W Volleyball: Snaps Losing Streak in Four Set Winner

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West women's volleyball team snapped a seven match losing streak Wednesday night as they beat Santiago Canyon College (13-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-23) 3-1.

In a warranted confidence boosting win, the Rustlers were able to overcome losing a sluggish and slow first set 25-13. The outside hitting duo of Holly Hennessy and Madison Holmes who each tallied 10 and 9 kills respectively, were the difference makers in the the final three sets. As a team, Golden West only hit .112% on the night but they also played good defense in recording 117 digs to keep rallies alive to beat the worn down outside hitters of the hawks.

Freshman libero Miranda Lizama did all she could in four sets, tallying 23 digs and a service ace to help lead the Rustlers to victory.

Golden West will travel to #1 ranked and undefeated Irvine Valley College Friday, October 19th for their annual Dig Pink game schedule to start at 6pm.
