Polo Players Send Pirates Packing

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West women's water polo team took control of the game against Orange Coast College, Wednesday Oct. 17 with a final score of 12-5 The Rustlers improve to  17-0 with the win, while the loss drops the Pirates to 7-5 on the year.

Seven different Rustlers were able to score on the Pirates, five of whom scored two goals each. As the first quarter played out, each team had 2 points on the board. In the second quarter the Rustlers took command of the water scoring five and only allowing the Pirates to score once. After the half Orange Coast's Brianna Salas and Alyssa Thomas were the only Pirates to score for the duration of the game.

Freshman Melissa Bergesen and Sophomore Kellie Guerin contributed two goals each for the Rustlers. Taylor Morton tended the cage for all 4 quarters blocking all but 5 shots on the goal.

Next the Rustlers face Mt SAC  and Ventura at the Long Beach City College Tournament this weekend. Game times are 8:05am and 4:45pm
