Golden West women's water polo clinched the 2012 CCCAA State Championships Saturday in a matchup againt Fullerton with a 12-7 vicotory. Fullerton, who has the No.2 spot in the Orange Empire conference, could not stop the 29-0 Rustlers when it came down to the final game. 

Starting the first half strong, Golden West was up by 4 at the end of the second quarter, not allowing Fullerton in the goal once. The Rustlers were ahead 7-3 and would not give up their lead. The team who played strong and consistent throughout the year, finished their state conference title game with a 12-7 score over their conference competitors. 

Freshman Melissa Bergesen scored four goals for the Rustlers, Margaret Dix added three goals, and Alexandria Loveless found the net twice. Brooke Roy, Gabi Mantellato and Sierra Payne each chipped in a goal for the final win of the season.
