Rustlers Rebound Against Riverside

Rustlers Rebound Against Riverside

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Women's water polo pulled out a narrow 11-9 victory over Riverside, continuing their push for a second undefeated season. Golden West (22-0, 5-0) just faced the Tigers (13-2, 4-0) last week, defeating them 17-9; so Riverside came to Rustler water with something to prove.

In the first quarter, Riverside was up 3-0 and doing their best to pull away from Golden West. The score was tied 5-5 by the second period, but the constant pressure from the Tigers forced Golden West to work for the win. Through the third quarter, the teams exchanged leading the game, until 4 goals from Alexandria Loveless in the last minutes of game play set Golden West up for another win . Sophomore Melissa Bergesen chipped in a goal of her own to seal the Tigers fate in the final quarter.

The women now prepare for the Orange Empire Conference championships, set for November 8th and 9th.
