Four Rustlers Named to the All-OEC Teams

The Golden West College women's water polo team had four players honored with All-Orange Empire Conference selections following their 2024 season. The team concluded the year with a 16-11 overall record and a 1-5 mark in OEC play, securing a 5th-place finish by defeating Cypress College in the OEC Championships.

ALL-OEC First Team

Sophomore Nathalia Johnston's selection to the All-OEC First Team highlights her remarkable performance as the Golden West goalie during the 2024 season. Playing all 26 games and completing 92 quarters, Johnston recorded an impressive 250 saves against 231 goals allowed, showcasing her resilience and skill in high-pressure situations. Notable performances include a dominant game against Crafton Hills, where she achieved a 75% save rate, and a standout showing against Cerritos with an 85.7% save rate. Johnston's consistency and leadership from the net anchored the team's defense, earning her a well-deserved spot among the conference's elite players.

ALL-OEC Second Team

Sophomore attacker Candice DeMayo earned a spot on the All-OEC Second Team following an outstanding season for the Rustlers. DeMayo showcased her scoring prowess by netting 48 goals across 26 games, finishing as one of the team's top offensive contributors. A consistent and reliable force in the attacking position, the Rancho Alamitos alumna delivered key performances in multiple games, including several multi-goal outings that helped propel the Rustlers to victory. Her ability to find the back of the net highlighted her importance to the team and solidified her status as one of the conference's standout players.

ALL-OEC Honorable Mention

Golden West College sophomore utility player Allyssa DeMayo has earned All-OEC Honorable Mention recognition for her outstanding contributions during the 2024 season. DeMayo played in all 26 games for the Rustlers, tallying 28 goals to help her team offensively. A versatile and consistent presence in the pool, DeMayo showcased her ability to perform under pressure and contribute in critical moments. A graduate of Rancho Alamitos High School, her efforts were instrumental in helping the Rustlers compete throughout the season, highlighting her as a key player in the program's success.

Freshman utility player Hanna Menyhart earned All-OEC Honorable Mention honors following a stellar debut season for Golden West College. Playing in 26 games, Menyhart scored an impressive 78 goals and added 2 assists, tallying 80 points to lead the Rustlers' offensive charge. She displayed exceptional scoring ability and consistency, highlighted by several multi-goal performances throughout the season. Her dynamic play and contributions were instrumental in the team's success, establishing her as a cornerstone of the offense.
