Pereyda Runs Well at the Manny Bautista Cross Country Invitational

Lowyn Pereyda ran well in her second invite of the season finishing the women's 5K run in 22:48.30.

 

The annual Manny Bautista Cross-Country Invitational took place this past Friday, October 11th at the Naval Training Center in Liberty Station, Point Loma.
This meet honors Bautista, who coached cross-country and track and field at Mesa College for 14 years. His teams achieved:

  • Four State Championships
  • 1994: First Women's State Cross Country Championship in school history
  • 1998: Only Women's State Track and Field Championship in school history
  • 2000-2001: Men's State Cross Country Teams ranked #1 community college team in the nation

Bautista was also a four-time recipient of the California Community College "Coach of the Year" award before retiring in 2002.
