Rustlers Declaw the Bobcats in Five Sets

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women's beach volleyball (3-4) defeated the Saddleback Bobcats (2-3), 3-2.   

Golden West hosted Saddleback for a competitive conference opening meeting. The matchup began with the pair of Maci Hendry and Mackenzie Dorney to kick it off. The pair was incredibly successful as they swept their opponents in the first two sets with a score of 21-18 and 21-14 in the second set. However, the Bobcats would win the next two pairs in close fashion. Adriana Morales and Leslie Cambry turned it around for the Rustlers in the fourth pair matchup. 

The two teams would lose the first set, 12-21 but flip the script in the second as they won, 21-12. For the third set, the pair went on to compete and win 15-11 to continue the day for Golden West. Shea Carroll and Keely Larson found themselves in the tiebreaking pair matchup. The pair jumped ahead to win the key first set, 21-15. Carroll and Larson did not allow the Saddleback pair to compete in the second and final set of the afternoon as they would be victorious, 21-4. The Rustlers went on to win the afternoon and earn their third meeting of the year, 3-2. 

NEXT UP: The Rustlers will be back in action on the road on Friday, March 1st against Riverside. The meeting will begin at 10am.
