SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Golden West College women's water polo team kicked off its 2025 campaign with an impressive showing at the Central Coast Classic hosted by Cuesta College, finishing the weekend with a 3-1 record. The Rustlers showcased their offensive depth and defensive grit against a challenging slate of opponents.
Long Beach City 21, Golden West 10
The Rustlers opened the tournament against perennial state power Long Beach City College. Golden West kept the game close in the opening quarter, but the Vikings' high-pressure attack wore down the Rustlers as the match progressed.

Sienna Abernathy led the Rustlers with 4 goals.

Sam O'Donnell added 2 goals, while Hanna Menyhart and Mimi Versegi each scored once.

Goalkeeper Camryn Adams tallied 11 saves to keep Golden West within striking distance.
Golden West 23, Modesto 6
Golden West bounced back in a big way later that afternoon, dominating Modesto Junior College from start to finish. The Rustlers raced out to a 9-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, scoring in transition and converting consistently on power-play opportunities.

Golden West 14, Cuesta 12
In one of the most competitive matches of the weekend, the Rustlers edged host Cuesta College in a back-and-forth battle. The game was tied entering the fourth quarter before Golden West capitalized on late opportunities to secure the win.

Menyhart scored 4 goals, including two in the decisive fourth quarter.

O'Donnell added 3 goals, while Abernathy and Versegi chipped in 2 apiece.

Adams made 12 saves, including a critical stop in the final two minutes to preserve the victory.
Golden West 14, Cabrillo 6
Golden West closed out the tournament in commanding fashion, controlling both ends of the pool against Cabrillo College. The Rustlers' defense limited Cabrillo's opportunities while the offense struck early and often.
